greetings, fellow barbarians….so it looks like i’ve made the grave mistake of waiting too long in between blog posts, because if i were to try and tell you about everything i’ve done in the past 3 weeks, it would be pages long. so, i’m really gonna half-ass this one, like even worse than normal… kind of a drive-by blogging. it’s clearly rain time in portland now, so now that i’m back i’m sure there will be plenty of time for dicking around and writing stupid shit about nothing. so don’t worry, i’ll make up for this one. (btw, if you look at my flickr you can see all of these photos plus many many more)
PART I: NEW YORK
romantic as ever. old friends, new friends, exceptional food (some homemade), tornadoes(!), lots of tattoos, beautiful weather and willful suspension of anything resembling a sleep cycle.
PART II: LONDON
london convention, so many people, working next to filip leu and thus feeling totally incompetent, getting to do fun tattoos, 10 days straight of tattooing (i never do that), pringles for dinner (on consecutive nights), continued sleep deprivation, rain all the time, new tat-shop pals, tea every day, double decker bus restauranting, backstage art gallery tours, friends from everywhere in town, beards by default, the cleveland show, and the cumulative consumption of about a metric ton of hummus in 10 days.
cale got a lot of work done in one week.
this frog dude’s friend put together a neat little movie he made of the convention, and it’s actually kind of cool. you can catch my ugly mug in it at the 1:56 and 3:17 marks… and the inimitable brian t. wilson at 3:54.
PART III: ICELAND
amazement, cozy lodgings, back to pringles for dinner, a failed pursuit of the northern lights, protests, swimming, soaking in hot springs, waterslides, being the only dude anywhere with any tattoos, road trips, waterfalls waterfalls waterfalls, geysers, lava fields, flood plains, glacier lagoons, fording rivers, sheep, horses, icebergs, insanely cold water, extreme isolation, repeatedly almost running out of gas, multiple life goals accomplished in 4 days and nobody giving a shit. ha!
it was amazing, but i’m still glad to be home.
portland convention on the 22nd, yo!
